Fiction Writers and New York Times Photographers

Time for writing has finally come. My apologies to those (as if there are any) who spend time checking the page every day in search of something new ; the college has completely absorbed me.

Besides my Exposition class, for which I've been composing 1000-word essays, and Politics class (no comments) I applied for a reporter's job in local media (www.aubgdaily.com) and - surprisingly - was accepted. Hope the first story will appear soon.

So, how many of you reading this know your professors? Know not only their names and appearance, but their career and experience, as well as how much they can tell and show you?
If only you knew, you would respect them much more and listen to what they are saying more carefully.

"Cohen, damn you!"  - Michael Cohen, Professor of Creative Writing

Giving an example, my Exposition (English) professor is an American fiction writer. Born in California and received Master's degree in Literature at Brow University, he has worked with AUBG students for more than eight years already.  He looks like a pirate/rock singer and his speeches make you want to listen to him for ever. He will discuss smoking, drinking and drugs in class, and  suddenly will give you a quote from Chekhov as an example. He can laugh at Russian punctuation rules, and then confess that he hasn't read War and Peace up to the end, but likes Anna Karenina a lot. And, looking for markers that always disappear from the classroom, he will exclaim "This room is cursed, man!" right before running out of the room in search of a new pen.

Another professor will ask you why he is wearing jacket to class when it is +35 outside, and then tell a joke about a cartoonist who was arrested the day before in India. He knows almost all the news of  the major states from the latest 24 hours; even if doesn't, he will analyze the issue in five minutes, providing you with the information you searched for three days in about ten newspapers and at once making his own conclusion. He has worked in The New York Times as a photographer and took a picture of John Kennedy the day before the president was shot.

And I just cannot stop admiring and respecting them, 'cause they are so great.

P.S.: What do you know about your professors?
